Hi Frank,
Yes you are right but think of it like this. "Wet always goes to dry" The water in the backing will not wick up unless the face yarn is dry so in effect by drying the top you are helping to dry the bottom. :ugeek:

When cleaning Polyproplene carpet It is best to have a great combination of heat, chemical, adgitation and time rather than using the water pressure as adgitation using the right prespray and rotary adgitation and plenty of heat use lower water pressure between 200-250 psi. With plenty of extraction power this will leave your polyproplene dryer. With the dry padding we are only drying the fiber because we have only wet the fiber as Toby said wet goes to dry BUT be carefull not to over dry you can cause friction burn. :D

Using the right chemical for the job is important too. The wrong chemical with the wrong surfactants can over wet the carpet. Also chemicals with organic solvents should not be used as the solvent will stick to the fibre leaving a sticky residue. Cleaning solutions spasifically designed for pollys will always give you superior performance. Try Traffic Slam from Bridgepoint, Polybreak from Hydramaster, or Powershot from Carpet Cleaners Warehouse. 8-)
