Advice on carpet cleaning and stain removal

carpet backing

Postby Frank Caiulo » Sun Jun 28, 2009 3:35 pm

Hi Guys, With secondary backings being the same as primary backings sometimes on carpet eg, either woven with slit film polypropylene yarn or spun non woven backings made of fused polypropylene fiber this type of backing doesnt stetch well and causes ripples. My question being if a custumer has this type of carpet it has little to do with, whether a carpet was stretched with a power stretcher or not , also are they making this type of carpet backing today and if not how old or what type of fiber should i be looking out for rather than telling the customer its to do with the laying the fellow didnt use a power stretcher. Thanks Frank.

Polyproplene backing can expand with water and only are a problem when they get to wet. I suggest lower your pressure use more heat and also use of air movers and drying pads to dry faster. A knee kicker and carpet awl should be used on all carpets when pre inspecting allways pull up a corner to check. But it is true alot of carpet layers don't even own a power stretcher.
